Erinn is a passionate stream ecologist, specifically interested in ecosystem structure and function and the many human driven threats to freshwaters. She believes that excellence in science, effective communication and inspiring the next generation are a responsibility and a privilege for academics. Erinn is an Assistant Lecturer for the Master of Environment and Sustainability, and recognises that many of the challenges surrounding environmental sustainability require a well-rounded interdisciplinary approach in order to tackle the many complications of rapid global change. Erinn completed her undergraduate environmental science degree, with Honours in freshwater ecology at Monash University. In her PhD studies, Erinn was able to discover that a diverse range of pharmaceuticals were accumulating within aquatic insects, and that these drugs move through food webs and reach key predators further up the food chain. While completing her PhD, Erinn spent time aboard conducting experiments and working with scientists at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in NY USA. She continues this collaboration and is currently focused on examining the effects of microplastics in the aquatic environment.
